Upcoming 2014 Merritt College Birding Class(es)

Soon, coming to a Merritt College classroom near you, the class title may possibly be (if funded):

Bird Song Ecology/Birding By Ear

More than improving your Birding By Ear skills during field trips, I will focus
on the ecology of birds' vocalizations; why they sing/call; bird behavior related to vocalizations; and much more.

Hence, if you have taken an ear birding-related class in the past, great.

BUT my format addresses both beginners and advance birders seeking to "elevate their game"
and become better, more knowledgable birders because they know more about what they
are hearing.

Handouts provided during classroom sessions that complement the all-day field trips.

Waterbirds of the Bay Area & Central California

This class offers a combo of slide shows plus field trips, centering on heron, duck, and shorebird family members.

Beyond the basic ID of these bird species, I will address their ecology, migration patterns, and behavior.

Raptors of the Bay Area & Central California

Highlighting day and night active raptors, this class will mix classroom slide shows and all-day field trips, as we discover hawks, eagles, kites, and owls.

Again, more than basic ID related to these bird species, I will discuss their ecology, migration patterns, and behavior.

Stay tuned for more information and/or feel free to check back here and/or contact me — danieledelstein@att.net, warblerwatch.com — if you wish an above-noted theme to be the focus of a private or small group bird tour that I could provide you (if we plan a date that works for you and your group).
